Laura Ellen (Lane) Swearingen's father, Alfred Lane, was a Texas Ranger and has a Texas Historical Marker in Graford, Texas. Her mother Elizabeth Annie Goodnight was Charlie Goodnight's (of Goodnight Loving Trail) sister.

Laura married Samuel Swearingen and they had three daughters: Cora, Lillie, and Annie. Her husband died in a logging accident.

Samuel's family in Missouri sent a younger son, Robert T. Swearingen to check on the young family. Robert T. Swearingen then married the widow and they had two sons: Robert and Tommie.

Both of her sons are buried in this cemetery.
