Nep B. Lightfoot, aged 76 years and 10 months, died Friday afternoon at the family home 4 miles southeast of Valparaiso, following an illness of 5 years. Since August the deceased had been confined to his bed with hardening of the arteries. Practically all of his life Mr. Lightfoot had been engaged in farming.
Born January 1, 1854, near Kouts, he has lived in and near that vicinity most of his life. On March 8, 1873, he was married to Deepie Gray who preceded him in death August 13, 1886. They were the parents of five children, only two children of whom are living, Earl Lightfoot of Hammond, and Charles of Hebron. Forty-three years ago he married Euphama Brody who survives besides two stepchildren, Fred Brody and Nettie Brody Kelly, also two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home near Malden. Rev. Leland Brown officiating. Burial was in Cornell cemetery.

The death of Nep B. Lightfoot was a shock to his many friends of Kouts and vicinity. He was a resident of Kouts for many years. Mrs. Lightfoot was a man of pleasing genial personality, who made friends. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, two sons, Earl, of Hammond and Charles of Hebron, two step-children, Fred Brody, Indiana Harbor and Mrs. Nettie Kelly of Hammond, besides a host of other relatives and friends. The bereaved families have the sympathy of this entire community.
