JOHN NELSON BLANCHARD, 72, passed away October 27, 2008 in Pasadena, TX. He was born June 8, 1936 in China, TX. to the late Wilford and Pauline Blanchard. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Milton Blanchard. Nelson leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 52 years Julie Blanchard; children, Nelson K. Blanchard and wife Brenda, Mark Blanchard, Mignone Bishop and husband David; grandchildren, Scott, Stacey, Shelbi, Kaitlyn, Chelsea; step-grandchildren, Jerod, David P, Brandi, Alecia; 2 step great-grandchildren, Caden and Aubry. Nelson worked at Monsanto Chemical Company for 30 years as an Environmental Technician. He was an accomplished golfer, a wonderful Cajun cook, baseball player at Texas A&M as well as a summer baseball coach for Pasadena boys youth league for 14 years. He enjoyed all sports and also wrote poetry. A visitation will be held at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Thursday, October 30, 2008 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A celebration of Nelson's life will be held Friday at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Grand View Memorial Park. The family would like to give special thanks to Doctors Maneesh Patel and Dat Bui, Courtyards at Pasadena, and the Hospice Care Team. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinsons Disease Foundation.
