Funeral services for Mrs. Seola Porteous Callahan will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2004 in First United Methodist Church, Oakdale with Rev. Jamey Lee officiating. Interment will follow in Oakdale Cemetery under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mrs. Callahan, age 72, of Oakdale entered eternal rest Wednesday, April 21, 2004 in her residence with her family close to her side.
She was very active at the local, district conference and jurisdictional levels of the United Methodist Church. She also focused on the advancement and development of Methodist women and the goals and continuation of the United Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Clayton Callahan, Sr. and one daughter, Mary Jane Callahan.
She is survived by one son, Clayton Callahan and his wife, Carolyn Callahan of Spring, Texas; two daughters, Carol Byrne and her husband Brian Byrne of Oakdale and Susan Baker of Oakdale; five grandchildren, Carla Winter, Alicia Baker, Celia Callahan, Katherine Baker and Jaymes Baker; and one great-grandchild, Brandon Baker Besson.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday, April 23, 2004 in Rush Funeral home, Downtown Location and from 9 a.m. until time of services Saturday, April 24, 2004 in First United Methodist Church, Oakdale.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the National Osteoporosis Foundation, 1232 22nd St. Northwest, Washington, D.C., 20037.
