James Alvin "Poor Boy" Anderson, 76, passed away Dec. 3, 2006, at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick. He was born Dec. 2, 1930, in Elbert County to Clarence and Edna Anderson. He lived in Glennville and Long County for many years, moving to Jesup 42 years ago. He served in the Georgia National Guard from 1949 to 1952 and was retired from the Wayne County Board of Education after 16 years of service as a mechanic with the bus fleet. He owned and operated ?Poor Boys? Monument Company for 42 years and enjoyed fishing and being with his family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Frances Johnson Anderson of Jesup; one son and daughter-in-law, Edwin and Brenda Anderson of Jesup; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Gloria and Barry Flowers and Allene and Chris Neeham of Jesup; one sister, Jean Reed of Plattville, Colo.; one brother, Paul Anderson of Plant City, Fla.; three grandchildren, Erika Ginn, James Edwin Anderson Jr. and Ashlyn Needham; three great-grandchildren, Jadalynn Ginn, Jonathan Ginn and Hunter Logan Anderson; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today (Wednesday) from the chapel of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Manning and the Rev. Jimmy Bargeron officiating. Burial will follow in Pigott Branch Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bobby Parker, Jimmy Parker, Logan Porter, Johnny Flowers, Hugh Reddish and Gene Reddish. Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home of Glennville is in charge of arrangements.
