1939 graduate from Bishop Baraga High School.

Dusty worked under the tutelage of his uncle at Anderson's Printing Shop. Later he became the owner/operator and renamed to Deschaine's Printing Shop until 1957. He then sold the business and was employed by Northern Michigan University. He was the department head of the university's Duplicating Division in the basement of Kaye Hall, eventually moving to the Cohodas Building.
