Samuel William Keng was born June 15, 1883 to Herman and Lena Christiansen Keng. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith as a child. On May 29, 1910, he was married to Miss Mamie Bolander, daughter of Mr.and Mrs. Tom Bolander of the Beat Five Community. The marriage was performed by Justice of the Peace Joe Beaman. This union was blessed with twelve children, all of whom survive. They are: Leroy Keng of Houston; Mrs. Fritz (Inez) Heinemann of Lexington; Mrs. Walter (Ruth) Dale of San Antonio; Mrs. Sammy (Verna) Caruso of Houston; Mrs. Billy (Verna) Hayes of Houston; Mrs. Len (Twila) Moncrief of Lexington; Samuel Boyd Keng of Houston; Thomas Winston Keng of Giddings; Mrs Allen (Joyce) Pagel of Houston; Cecil Doyle Keng of Houston; Mrs. Michael (Marlene) Terrasa of Lake Jackson; and Mrs. George (Barbara) King of Houston.

Samuel William Keng died at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 20 days. He leaves to mourn his death his widow, Mrs. Mamie Keng, his twelve children, twenty seven grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Frances McKeown of Giddings, and other relatives and friends. His parents, three brothers, Fred, August, and Ernest, and an adopted sister, (Millie) Mrs. A.T. Alexander, have preceded him in death. Pallbearers for Mrs. Keng were Jack Christiansen, Benjamin Gunter, Bill Brademan, Hilton McKeown, Clarence Keng, and Edwin Grimm.
