Tecumseh resident Roy K. "Tor" Hays, 85, passed away Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008 in Norman.

He was born Sept. 1, 1923, in Stafford, Ark. to Parks Hall and Nora Mae (Springfield) Hays

As an infant in 1924, he moved with his family to Oklahoma and had resided in Tecumseh since 1925.
He was a 1942 graduate of Tecumseh High School.
Roy was a "confirmed bachelor" until he met and married the love of his life, Elva Lou Doshier in 1997.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served as a Technical Sergeant during World War II with the 559 Bomb Sq. in England. He returned home from the war and lived with and cared for his ailing father until his death.
He worked for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for 20 years until retiring on December 31, 1984.
He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a member and active in the American Legion Hill-Huett Post 260 and served several terms as Commander. He had also served as the American Legion State Commander. He was also instrumental in building of the Legion Hall. He loved to cook and was always there to help in the kitchen. He was active in the Oddfellows Lodge 62 and the Rebecca's.
Mr. Hays was a member of the Tecumseh Alumni Association, where he had served as Roll-Caller and was a past president. He was a lifelong member of the VFW Shawnee Post 1317.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Elva Hays of the home. Elva brought to Roy a loving family of seven children: Fred and Dorothy Doshier, Donna and Ronnie Foldvik, Jerry and Anice Doshier, Kay and Albert Contreras, Larry Doshier, Ronnie and Jeanette Doshier and Betty and Jeff Anderson; 22 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Roy was also blessed with many loving nieces & nephews including Larry and Peggy Hays, Anona and Floyd Kieffer, Jack and Barbara Hays, Norman and Gloria Moudy, Robert and Ann Bivins and James and Sheila Moudy; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008 with Jeff Anderson and Jarrod Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh. To share memories, or to sign the guest book on-line, go to www.cooperfuneral.com.
