Grace H. Ream Aikins, 95, of Kiski Township, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, in West Haven Nursing Home, Washington Township. She was born Feb. 19, 1913, in Johnstown, the daughter of the late Willis and Anna M. Beatty Ream. Before her retirement, she was last employed by Federal Laboratories in Saltsburg. Previously, she had been a cook at both the Golden Lounge and Bon Fire restaurants. She was a member of the Avonmore Senior Citizens and the kitchen band there and a former member of the LOOM No. 37 "Moose Women." She enjoyed crocheting and bingo. She is survived by a daughter, Doloris Ukish, of Kiski Township; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Day, of Ashland, Ky. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin A. Aikins, in 2003; a son, Melvin "Pete" Aikins, in May 2000; her son-in-law, Pete Ukish, in 2008;a granddaughter, Debbie Ukish; five sisters, Katy Geisel, Leona Koontz, Rose Johnson, Lillian Lewis and Dorothy Eckenrode; and four brothers, William, Lou, Webster and Jim Ream. Private visitation and services were held Monday in the KELLY L. CORRIDONI FUNERAL HOME, 400 Indiana Ave., Avonmore. Interment followed in Westview Cemetery, Avonmore.
