Leo was born in Haven Township (St. Cloud) on March 27, 1895 to Jacob and Mary Klaesges Bromenschenkel, the 3rd of their 11 children. He married Bertha Tauber on Jun 30, 1930 in the old St. Augustine's Catholic Church in east St. Cloud. They farmed in east St. Cloud, immediately north of today's St. Cloud airport. Leo and Bertha had 8 children: Lorraine, Clarence, Theresa, Ray, Jim, Leo, Mary and Patricia.
