Mrs. Overby was born July 15, 1918, in Patrick, Va., to George Emmit Collins and Mary Lou Puckett Collins.
She was the wife of the late Edgar Madison Overby.
She was a homemaker and a member of Collinstown Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Overby was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Madison Overby; her parents; a son, Jackie D. Overby; four brothers, John, Noel, Eugene and Floyd Collins; and a sister, Janie Louise Collins.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Ruth Corns of Walkertown and Janie and Pete Joyce of Mount Airy; five sons and daughters-in-law, George Thomas and Mildred Overby of Walkertown, William Robert and Sue Overby of Mount Airy, John Eddie and Barbara Overby of Millers Creek, James Grant and Karoline Overby of Pilot Mountain and Christopher Clay and Sandra Overby of Yadkinville; a daughter-in-law, Iva Dene Overby; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jessie Overby; a brother, Allen Collins; and many friends and relatives.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. today, April 6, at Collinstown Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Tracey Collins and the Rev. Kenny Overby officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery The Overby family received family and friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, at Cox-Needham Funeral Home. In addition to floral tributes, the family requests that memorials be made to Collinstown, Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Ann Jones, Puckett Road, Westfield, NC 27053. The Overby family is being served by Cox-Needham Funeral Home, Pilot Mountain.
