Steven graduated from Turlock High School with the class of 1967. Steven and James Blevins(his best friend)joined the Marines on the Buddy System.

Pfc Amescua arrived in Vietnam 13 March 1968,and was assigned to Lima Company,3rd Battalion,4th Marine Regiment,3rd Marine Division.

He was wounded by mortar fire during combat patrolwest of Hill 689, Quang Tri Province.He died of his wounds.He was single.

James Blevins,his best friend was killed in Vietnam 23 August 1968.

His middle name was Epefanio which was his father's first name.

He was born in Oakland, CA. Died while participating in Operation
Scotland II.

Survived by his mother, Inez M Houk and his sister, Irene Amescua, both of Turlock, CA and his father, Epefanio Amescua of Modesto, CA.
