Mrs. Alice Steiner Binckley died 11 Oct. in Los Angeles at the residence of her daughter. Mother of Virginia Tyler of Honolulu; grandmother of Charles Harvey Myers of Baltimore, MD; sister of George W. Steiner of Sparks; Charles L. Steiner of Torrance, CA; Mrs. Marie Maestretti of Reno; Mrs. Martina Spencer of Sparks; Harold H. Steiner of Los Angeles. Member of the Order of the Eastern Star at Austin.

Born in Austin to Mr. and Mrs. Leopold Steiner, pioneer Austin settlers. Father had extensive cattle interests in Central Nevada. She was educated at Austin and also at the Bishop Whitaker School for Girls in Reno. [This is where what is left of Whitaker Park is located] To San Francisco to study voice. Met there and married Harry Binckley, an engineer. Then traveled all over the world - spent 8 years at Capetown, South Africa. He was killed by natives while on an exploratory trip in Africa about 20 years ago. She then started selling corsets in South Africa, South America and the Orient. She got well-known women to endorse her product. Very capable woman. Returned to Nevada 27 Nov 1940.

She became ill while visiting her brother in Los Angeles. Funeral Thursday at Rose Burke Funeral Home in Reno. Burial F&AM Cemetery in Reno.

BINCKLEY-Friends are invited to attend funeral services for the late Mrs. Alice Steiner Binckley, Thursday afternoon at two o'clock at the home chapel of the Ross-Burke Company. The Rev. E.C. Sloan, clergyman. Interment, Masonic Cemetery.
