Ginger was born on February 10, 1946, in Clio, Michigan. She was the daughter of Frank Lesher and Lucille Mae Burley Pitkin.

At the age of 18 she married David Willis Cummings at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mt. Morris, Michigan. On their first anniversary she gave birth to their first daughter, Chantel, who was followed by their second child Jody Ann in 1969.

After their daughters were in high school and/or college, Dave and Ginger returned to school and attended the University of Michigan-Flint. Ginger graduated in 1989 with a BS in Environmental Science, an accomplishment which made her and her family extremely proud. Shortly after her graduation, Dave, who worked for CSX Transportation, was transferred to Grand Rapids, Michigan, and later, in 1993, to Jacksonville, Florida.

In October 1994, Ginger was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a total mastectomy and chemotherapy. She was declared cancer-free in 1999. While undergoing treatment, she became involved with the Jacksonville Scottish Highland Games committee and made friends all over the world as she acted as publicity chair for the Games and served on the Board of Directors of the St. Andrews Society of Jacksonville.

Both Ginger and Dave were proud of their Scottish heritage and travelled to Scotland in 1999 to visit sites of interest to both of them. Interestingly, Ginger, a direct descendant of Robert the Bruce, married a man who descends from the Comyn family in Scotland -- the progenitor of which the Red Comyn was murdered by the Bruce's men on February 10, 1306.

In 2002, Ginger became ill with kidney problems which necessitated a kidney biopsy. While no definite diagnosis for her health problems could be found, she became sicker and sicker and, in April 2003 was sent to the hospital for tests. It was determined she had a systemic staph infection (probably MURSA) which destroyed her heart and caused endocarditis which killed her on May 8, 2003.

She is dearly missed by everyone who ever knew her. She touched so many with her infectious enthusiasm and zest for life -- the ultimate social butterfly.
