Bert Abbott, 66, of 48 Coffeen, former rancher on Lower Prairie Dog, died early this morning. He had lived in the Big Horn and Sheridan communities since the age of 13.
Abbott was born April 13, 1884, in Wymore, Neb., and came to Sheridan from Clarinda, Ia., with his parents. He lived at Big Horn until 1915 and ranched on Lower Prairie Dog until retirement in 1943 when he moved to Sheridan.
For several years, he also served as district deputy county assessor.
He was married Jan. 1, 1923, to Ruby C. Krause of Hartington, Neb., who survives. Abbott was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge at Big Horn.
He is survived also by one daughter, Wilberta Abbott of Sheridan; one brother, Dr. Clyde Abbott of Paisley, Ore. His parents, one brother and one sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be Thursday, at 3 p.m., in the Reed drawing room with the Rev. J. Fred Stilwell officiating. Burial will be in the Big Horn Cemetery with the Big Horn Odd Fellows Lodge in charge of graveside services.
