Robert E. Akers, 75, of Smithville, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000.

Private family services will be held. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Dalton is handling arrangements.

He was born May 27, 1925 in Birds, Ill. to Willard and Carrie (Leonard) Akers and married Gloria Bach on Nov. 22, 1945. She survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Dennis Akers of Burbank, Norman (Sharon) Akers of North Lawrence; three grandchildren; a brother, Vernon Akers of Bridgeport, Ill. and a sister, Betty Cravens of Robinson, Ill.
