The funeral for Mildred Katherine Raney, 89, of Athens will be at 2 p.m. today at the Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with David Watts and Robert Fudge officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Raney died Saturday, November 22, 2008, at the Athens-Limestone Hospital.
She was a member of the Ephesus Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Edmond Raney; her parents, Asa Gilbert Bowers and Anna Belle Devore Bowers; a son, Larry Raney; a sister, Lois Wagner; and brothers, Charles Bowers, Laurence Bowers and Walter Bowers.
She is survived by three daughters, Robbie Nell Purcell of Lebanon, TN, Betty Jo Hansen of Athens, Wanda Kaye Bost of Erie, PA; one brother, Gerald Bowers of Birmingham; two sisters, Joyce Hart of St. Cloud, FL, and Vernice Huntley of Sparta, TN; one half-sister, Hazel Ardelia Cherry of Athens; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
