Richard A. Olson passed away at his home in Fargo on Thursday, November 17, 2005.
Richard Olson was born to Albin and Crystal (Hayfield) Olson in Valley City, ND on July 6, 1939. He grew up and attended school in Lisbon, graduating from Lisbon High School in 1957, Richard Olson and Mervyne Larson were married in Lisbon in 1959. They moved to Fargo where Richard attended Dakota Business College. Richard managed Anthony Stores in Warren and Roseau Minnesota before moving to Mayville North Dakota in 1973. He owned and managed the Sears Catalog store in Mayville until 1983. Mervyne preceded him in death in 1983. Richard Olson and Dorothy Eiken were married in 1984. Richard became a postal employee in 1983 and transferred to Fargo in 1987. He retired from the Post Office in 2000.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepsons, Curtis and Michael H. Holkesvig.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, Fargo; two sons, Steven R (Lona) Olson, Portland, ND; Tim (Buck) (Liz) Olson, Horace, ND; stepchildren, Brad Holkesvig, San Jose, CA, Sheila (Tim) Johnson, Fargo, ND, John (Tami) Vigen, Horace, ND, Connie (Jim) Erbstoesser, West Fargo, ND, Scott Vigen, West Fargo, ND; his brothers, Mike Olson, and Scott Olson, both Fargo, ND; 6 grandchildren: Katie, Bethany, Breanne, Kate, Crystal, and Hunter; 11 step grandchildren: Aaron, Karl, Joseph, Jeremy, Bryan, Amy, Rachel, Chris, Jackson, Thomas, and Lindsey; 8 step great grandchildren: Hayle, Sydney, Mikayla, Ally, Emma, Hannah, Sadie, and Rhiannon.
Memorial Service 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2005, St. John Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND
Visitation Monday, one hour before the service in the church
Interment Mayville City Cemetery, Mayville, ND
