Dorothy M. Ratekin, 89, of Rushville, died Oct. 6, 2008.

Born Aug. 3, 1919 in Rush County, she was the daughter of Emory and Elizabeth (Sager) Ratekin, both deceased.

Ms. Ratekin lived most of her life in Rush County and was a 1937 graduate of Rushville High School. She worked as a welder at Vibration Eliminator in Rushville for several years. She was a member of the Rushville American Legion and VFW Ladies Auxiliary and was a charter member of the Rushville Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. She was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include nieces, Sandra (George) Hobbs of Jasper, Dorothy Parsley and Elizabeth Callaway, both of Shelbyville, Sally Massey of St. Mary of the Woods; nephews, Thomas Griffith of Fairland, Marlin Ratekin of Rushville, Edward Griffith and Jay Griffith, both of Shelbyville.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Moster Mortuary. Burial will follow in East Hill Cemetery and will include a graveside service provided by the Rush County Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
