Americus - A well-known citizen of Americus, died of dropsy at the French House, Tuesday evening, about half past one o'clock. He had been a resident of Americus about twenty-five years, and was a son of the late Col. William M. Brown, of Marion. He once represented Marion County in the Legislature, and has held several important offices of trust in this county. He was for several years Clerk and Treasurer of the city council and for the past six years was Ordinary of this county, which position he held to the day of his death.

Johnson at Americus Ga 27 Apr. 1861 to serve one year now entitled to discharge by reason of the experation of his term under the provisions of the conscript act.
