Charles F. Kurfess Jr., the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Kurfess died in Nowata Okla. Feb. 22, 1915, of Diphtheria. The body was taken to Hays accompanied by his Mother.
Was buried from St. Joseph's Church in the Catholic Cemetery, Thursday Feb., 25, 1915.
Charles was born in Denver Colo. on Thursday 14th, day of June 1902. When nearly 4 years old went to Leavenworth Kansas with his parents and lived there 5 years. He was a pupil at the St. Joseph school 4 years when he came to Hays with his mother to see his Grandparents. When back to Kansas City Mo, and lived there but a short time when Charles and his Mother went to Okla. where he was a pupil; at the Nowata school 2 years and in 1914 went to school at Hays St. Joseph's school.
Went back to Okla. with his mother last fall, where he was a pupil in the Nowata school in the 6th grade till he took sick to the 13th. day of Feb. and (sic) was sick ten days.
Charles was 12 years 8 months and 8 days old. He leaves his bereaved Mother and Father to mourn (sic) his loss.
His grandmother Mrs. Hannah Kurfess was here from Denver for the funeral.
