Fred Adams, 80, of Konnarock, Va., died at 11 a.m. Friday at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, Tenn.

Adams lived in Columbus from 1962 to 1985 and had been employed by Vernco.

Funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at the Reed and Jewell Chapel by Myers Funeral Service with the Rev. Russell Peterson officiating. Calling hours will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Daugherty Cemetery.

Born May 10, 1907, in Grayson County, Va., Adams was the son of Henry Martin and Elizabeth Woodruff Adams. He was married to Pearl McQuery, who died in April 1927. He married Mary Corbin Sept. 12, 1927, and she died Aug. 28, 1973.

Survivors include a brother, Norman Adams of Lawrenceburg; five granchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jewell Shelton; three brothers, Otto, Kenny and Coleigny Adams, and a sister, Ila Adams.
