Asa James Anderson, the son of Stephen Layfayette and Susan Ann Gallaher Anderson, was born 09 April 1827 in Monroe County, Tennessee and died 25 April 1910. He first married on 30 Jul 1847 to Nancy Jane Roberts, and were the parents of:
1. William Olney (1847-1860),
2. Rhabek Jane (1851-1860),
3. Mary Ann (1853-1927),
4. Susan (1857-1936) and
5. Oliver Perry Roberts (1864-1931).

He married second on 07 November 1886 in Monroe County, Tennessee to Mary Susan Sharp and were the parents to:
6. James Roy (1888-1959) and
7. Asa Vance (1889-).
