Arthur M. Scantlen, 81, of Pilot Knob died at his home Tuesday morning following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Putnam funeral home with Rev. Thomas W. Merritt in charge. Burial will be in Knauss cemetery in Kinderhook.Mr. Scantlen was born Sept. 25, 1886 in Defiance county, Ohio. He was the son of Felix and Mary (Traxler) Scantlen. On Feb. 12, 1910, he married Mary Schrieber in Bryan, Ohio. She died December 20, 1960.
He was a machinist at the Studebaker plant in South Bend, Ind for 15 years. He moved from Indiana to Kinderhook in 1936. In 1946 he moved to Bellaire and then back to Branch county in1955.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald J. Scantlen of Coldwater, Raymond E. Scantlen of Maywood, Ill., and Robert E. Scantlen of Kinderhook twp.; five daughters, Mrs. Lilis German, of Coldwater, Mrs. Esther Earlywine of Magnolia Springs, Ala., Mrs. Laurice Lambdin of Kalamazoo, Mrs. Mildred Schafer of Milford, Ohio, and Mrs. Agnes Konicke of Gary, Ind.; 30 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
