Dad was born to Carrie Lucille (Hankinson from Grand Rapids, MI) and Walter Brehm in 1923. He had one sibling, William Brehm, his younger brother.

Dad was born in the city of Detroit, MI where his parents resided until they moved to Dearborn when dad began grade school. He attended Lowery School and graduated from Fordson. He worked for the Ford Motor Co.

Dad started shooting in 1941 and was very active in the NRA, starting the Dearborn gun club and the Michigan Rifle and Pistol Assoc. He was in charge of the gun range at the Dearborn Recreation Center.

He joined the Ford Yacht Club and was instrumental in planning and purchasing property for the club.

Erv met Loretta and they were married. They had two children: Linda and Harold and lived in Dearborn. They divorced in 1954.

Erv continued his interests in competitive target shooting and later met Anna May Schumaker. They were married and had three children: Roger, Lori & Carol. The family stayed in Dearborn until they relocated to Grosse Ile in Nov. 1966. His passion for the water motivated him to move to the island where he could dock his beloved Encore in front of his home.

Dad loved the water, he was an avid boater, a hunter and musician. He was soft spoken, kind and would help anyone who needed it.
