Dezeri J. "Spud" DeRaedt Sr., 87 of Plato Center passed away, Friday, November 28, 2008 in his home.

He was born July 21, 1921 in Burlington the son of Remi and Helena DeRaedt.

His family immigrated from Belguim, he has been a resident of the Plato Center area all of his life where he had farmed.

Surviving are his wife, Marjorie Judkins DeRaedt whom he married on October 20, 1951; one daughter, Linda (Marty) Sliwa of Plato Center; three sons, Dezeri J. (Sherri) DeRaedt Jr. of Burlington Township, Stanley (Lori) DeRaedt of Elgin Township, and Jon DeRaedt (Ruth Toppel) of Plato Center; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, CryiI, George and Louie DeRaedt.

Public visitation will be held on Monday, from 10:00 A.M., until 12:00 NOON in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Funeral Services will be private with private burial to follow in Plato Center Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, Barrington.
