On Monday, Dec. 20, 1982, at 4:26 p.m., the Martin County Sheriff's Office responded to Tiger Shore Beach on Hutchinson Island reference to a murder. Upon arrival deputies found the body of a female, later identified as Masako Davison, laying on the wooden walkway leading from the parking area to the beach. The victim was found at 4:11 p.m. by a retired couple who had stopped to look at the surf. The victim had been stabbed repeatedly and signs of a struggle were present. It is believed that attempted robbery was the motive as the victim was still clutching her purse.
