Son of Peter Pommer and Kuni Picklemann Pommer, both German immigrants.

Passed away in Columbia Hospital, at the age of 18 from a head injury sustained while being tackled during a Westinghouse High School football game.

Pommer, of 1147 Rebecca Avenue, Wilkinsburg, was playing with a team on the Westinghouse playgrounds in Forest Hills at 6:30 pm and was carrying the ball. Verne Clemens, of 416 Ella Street, tackled Pommer as Pommer was running down a punt, and fell on him, making the play. Alfred's skull was fractured.

Pommer was taken to the office of Dr. R.D. Goodwin, Electric Avenue, East Pittsburgh. The physician ordered the lad removed to the Columbia Hospital. Pommer was dead when carried into that institution. It is believed that an injury received the prior week while practicing was a contributory cause of death.

Pommer was an employee of the Westinghouse Company, and a student at the Westinghouse Technical night school. He had been a member of the high school football team for the prior two years. He was a former student of the Wilkinsburg High School.

Funeral arrangements handled by Collins & Wolfe, East Pittsburgh, PA. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Wilkinsburg PA.
