John Mangel Roll Jr. served with the 7th Company of the 7th class of Cumberland County Pennsylvania Militia; Revolutionary War. He served in the same unit as Richard Arthur (Arters).

His service began on 01 August 1780, under Captain Robert Means. He also served under Colonel Alexander Brown from 1780, 1781 and 1782.

John Mangel Roll, Jr. was born to John and Mary (nee Nevius) Roll on January 12, 1755 - he was the second born to a large family.

John married Mary (nee Frampton) Roll and they had 7 daughters and one son, of whom he named his son after his oldest brother David Roll.
