George Aldrich, aged 40 years, of Springfield, was instantly killed yesterday morning in Roodhouse, while walking in the Chicago & Alton yards. Mr. Aldrich, who was an adjuster for the American Insurance company, was in Roodhouse to adjust some fire losses. Starting to the depot after transacting his business he walked down the railroad track when a Chicago & Alton passenger train, approaching on the opposite track, whistled its warning. Aldrich, hearing the warning and mistaking the track on which the train was approaching, stepped in front of the train.

Mr. Aldrich came to Springfield six years ago from Mt. Vernon to take a position as adjuster for the American Insurance company,

He is survived by his widow; three sons, Emmett, Byron and Wendell Aldrich; two daughters, Catherine and Helen Aldrich; one brother, Charles Aldrich, of Centralia; and his father Charles Aldrich of Mt. Vernon. The body will be forwarded to Springfield.

The funeral of George Aldrich, Springfield, who was killed Thursday morning at Roodhouse under a Chicago & Alton passenger train, will be held Saturday at the residence. Burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery.
