Alton M. "Al" Davidson of Dothan passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster. He was 72.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 7, 2008 at the Westgate Church of Christ with Minister Bill Watkins officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Robert Byrd of Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, January 6, at Westgate Church of Christ.

Mr. Davidson was born on October 20, 1935 in Oakman, AL to the late Thomas Sewell Davidson and Gina Mae Watts and lived the early years of his life there. He graduated from Oakman High School before moving to Birmingham where he met his wife, Betty. They soon moved to Chickasaw, AL where he worked for Alabama Power Company. He later resided in Demopolis, AL until he moved to Dothan in 1973 where he worked for Alabama Power / Southern Nuclear Company until his retirement in 1997 after 43 years of employment. Since his retirement Mr. Davidson has enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Westgate Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Betty Davidson of Dothan; sons, Steven Davidson and his wife Carla of New Brockton, Brian Scott and his wife Ruthie of Dothan; daughter, Tracy Michelle Hyche and her husband David of Columbiana, AL; Carol Lynn Holland and her husband Ken of Dothan; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Serving as active pallbearers will be his grandsons, Steven Davidson, Scott Davidson, David Davidson, Jeremy Bruner, Derek Bruner and Harrison Hyche.
