About 1805, in Edgecombe Co., NC, Exum married Temperance [Stallings], the daughter of Willis & Delilah Stallings. Exum moved by 1805 to Smith Co., TN. He served as a Smith Co. Justice of the Peace, and in May, 1836, was elected Chair of the Justice Court for Smith Co.
