Joseph G. Gunther, a horse trainer and restaurateur, died Monday of complications from Alzheimer's disease. He was 84. Mr. Gunther was born in Cincinnati and lived in New Orleans for many years before moving to Des Moines, Iowa, in 1991. He was a former world champion wrestler and wrestling promoter in New Orleans and Birmingham, Ala. He was an Army veteran of World War II. A funeral was held Friday at Westover Funeral Home in Des Moines. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery in Des Moines.
