Ira Egan, Byron, Dies In Rest Home
Ira Egan of Byron, a resident of the Byron area for 57 years, died Sunday morning at the age of 86 in a Powell rest home. Death was attributed to the infirmities of age.
Egan was born Sept. 17, 1875, in Ruby Valley, Nev.
He married twice and children survive from both marriages. His first wife was Margaret Rosella Calvin, who preceded him in death by many years. Surviving children from the first marriage are Mrs. Rosella Yorgason of Burlington, L. E. Egan, David Egan and Mrs. Wanda Stewart, all of Southgate, Calif.
In June of 1919 he married Edith Lorraine Jones, who also preceded him in death. Surviving children from the second marriage are Mrs. Nadine Johnson of Leavenworth, Kan., Mrs. Artelle Sedwick of Powell, Mrs. Leah Dove of Lovell, Mrs. Lapriel Burnett of Wichita Falls, Tex., and Mrs. Ellis Jones of Forestville Calif.
In addition, Egan is survived by four brothers, David Egan of Salt Lake City, Utah, Byron Egan who lives in Virginia, and Howard Egan and Richard Egan whose addresses are unknown, three sisters all residents of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Ora Simmons, Mrs. Erma Baker and Mrs. Nellie Sylvester. He is also survived by 22 greadchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Byron LDS chapel with Bishop Wayne Lynn officiating. Burial wil be in the Byron cemetery under the direction of Haskell funeral home of Lovell.
