Gerda Okerlund, age 93, of Fergus Falls died Friday, November 21, 2008, at Lake Region Hospital.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Nov 28, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls with Rev. Kate Bruns officiating. Burial was at Rock Prairie Lutheran Cemetery, rural Elbow Lake.

Gerda Corrine Okerlund was born March 29, 1915, in rural Elbow Lake, the daughter of Christian and Gunhild (Aasberg) Harstad. She was baptized at Rock Prairie Lutheran Church and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. In 1923, her mother passed away and in 1925, the family moved to Fergus Falls where she completed her education through the 12th grade. She worked at the Lake Alice Grocery Store.

In 1937, she was united in marriage to Gilbert Ott. They had one daughter, Virginia. During WWII, she moved to Alameda, CA where she worked at the Naval Air Station. After the war she returned to Fergus Falls and on July 12, 1951, she was united in marriage to Leo Okerlund in Minneapolis. The couple made their home in Fergus Falls where Gerda was employed with Victor Lundeen Company for many years in retail sales.
Gerda was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she was active in the WELCA, Church Circles, and the Homemakers.

She is survived by her son, Keith Okerlund of Fergus Falls; three grandchildren, Brenda (Rodney) Fry of Fergus Falls, Kevin (Linette Hanson) Skinnemoen of Evansville and Kurt (Barb) Skinnemoen of Wendell; eight great-grandchildren, Adam (Erica Ryckman), Sara (Adam Differding) Fry, Ryan, Tanner and Marissa Skinnemoen, Brooke and Shelby Skinnemoen and Eric Burley; one great-great granddaughter, Alexia; nephews, Ben DeLagoon and Frans DeLagoon; and nieces, Katy Wiese, Geri McBrady, and Pegi Rosholt.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo on January 4, 1991; her daughter, Virginia (Ott) Skinnemoen; a brother, Thrygve Harstad; two sisters, Thora DeLagoon and Signe Rosholt; a niece, Mary Anderson; two nephews, Jim Rosholt and Phil DeLagoon.
