Colonel Leonard Earl "Lee" Baltzell, Jr.., Retired U.S.A.F, age 74, of Ozark (MO), died in his home Wednesday July 28, 1999. He was born July 6, 1925 in Hockerville, Oklahoma and was the son of Leonard Baltzell Sr. and Loraine (Jones) Baltzell. He and his wife, Teresa Irene Hilton were married December 26, 1951. She preceded him in death in 1996 after forty-five years of marriage. Colonel Baltzell served his country as a fighter pilot in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam Wars. He was a director of the THOR Missile Project, and was Director and Chief of engineering for the Minute Man Missile Program. He was a VFW and American Legion member and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was also a member of the Retired Air Force Officer's Association. Survivors include: three sons, Leonard E. Baltzell, III, and his wife Mary, Ozark, Bradley Hollan Baltzell, Newhall, California, and Robert Lee Baltzell and his wife Suzy, Ozark; two grandchildren, Daniel and Arielle; his brother, Rollin Baltzell and wife Lenore, Cathedral City, California; and his sister, Lillian Berry and husband Earl, Salem, Illinois. Burial will be Wednesday, August 4, in Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside California will full military honors.
