Winifred J. Watson Funk, 77, of Higginsville, Mo., died Nov. 6, 2001, at the Research Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. She was born May 17, 1924, in Masontown, daughter of the late Carl H. and Daisy M. Sidwell Watson. She moved to Higginsville in 1998, and was formerly of Mountain Home, Ark., where she and her husband owned and operated Harry's Resort on Bull Shoals Lake for 17 years. She was a Naval Air Corps veteran of World War II, and was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and a volunteer worker for Foster Grandparent Program in Higginsville. She enjoyed fishing and sports. She is survived by her husband, Harry W. Funk, whom she married on June 1, 1945; two sons and spouses, Pat and Sandy Funk, of Gainesville, Mo. and Charles and Amy Funk, of Batavia, Ohio; a daughter and spouse, Susie and Jerry Beard, of Higginsville; several grandchildren, Craig Funk, Joseph Bailey, Brandon Funk, Kelly Craig, Scott Beard, Jordan Funk, and Payton Funk; two great-grandchildren, Skylar and Kaitlin Craig; and a sister, Jean Watson Anderson, of Morgantown. She was also preceded in death by two brothers; a sister; and a son, Harry. Memorial service was held in Higginsville on Nov. 8. A military graveside service was held Friday, Nov. 9.
