Evelyn Aloia Scott, 93, died Monday, December 1, 2008. The youngest of six children, she was born September 16, 1915, into an Italian family that made their home in Birmingham, Alabama. In 1943, she married William E. Scott, and in 1947 they moved from Alabama to Florida where they raised their family, living first in Tampa and later in Maitland. Retiring in the early 1980's, they eventually moved to Ocala. In addition to being a wife, mother, and homemaker, Evelyn also enjoyed a multitude of other activities including dancing, sewing, antique collecting, writing, lecturing, community service and church work. At the age of 80, she wrote a book about her full and colorful life entitled "My Name Is Evelyn". She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, and is survived by her sons, Michael and Steve, daughter, Joanne, and daughter-in-law, Fern Scott. A memorial service will be held in Tampa at a future date to be determined.
