Falls Dead From Wagon
Athens, Aug. 7 - Edward T. Bancroft, aged 62 years, prominent Sangamon county farmer, was found dead early this morning, one mile south of Athens. He had started from his home with a load of hogs about one hour before his body was found by W. Fischer of Cantrall. Mr. Bancroft's body had fallen from the seat of the wagon to the doubletrees and the horses, which he was driving, had crossed the road and stopped when seen by Fischer. Coroner W. A. Wilson of Petersburg held an inquest at the Allen Mott undertaking establishment, where a verdict of death from heart trouble was returned.
Surviving Mr. Bancroft are his wife, Emma, two sons, Isaac of Auburn and Leslie of St. Louis, and two daughters, Ethel and Helen.
The body was taken to the family residence in Fancy Creek township tonight.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the home. Interment in Strode cemetery.
