A memorial service will be at 8 p.m. Thursday at Berndt Funeral Home, Hartford. The Rev. Bervie Scott will officiate. Burial will be in Wood Cemetery, Wood.
Bankes was born April 12, 1907 in Adams County, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bankes. he married Marjorie Savage Feb. 13, 1954, in Wisconsin Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, one stepson, Douglas Savage, Hartford; on stepdaughter, Danita Schladwieler, Gretna, La.; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard, Adams, and Jack, Illinois; four sisters, Hazel Grell and Ida Luke; both of Adams; Eva Eschenbach, Mauston; and Catherine Schmoock, Hancock.
