Lula Jenkins Scates, 84, of Richmond, formerly of Montross, died December 12, 1996. Mrs. Scates was the widow of Harold C. Scates and a member of Springs of Living Water Pentecostal Holiness Church, Richmond. She is survived by two sons, William E. Anthony, Sandston, sons Robert A. Anthony, Montross; six daughters, Ruth M. Thomas, Appomattox, Alice Marie Jordan, Richmond, Hazel A. Onderko. Pelion, S.C., Lois A. Parr, Warsaw, Margaret A. Ratcliffe, Richmond, Mary A. Hamlett, Appomattox; two brothers, Edward Jenkins, Tappahannock, Steward Jenkins, Warsaw; three sisters, Sadie J. Harrell, Richmond, Dorothy J. Ambrose, and Elizabeth J. Jenkins, both of Warsaw; 28 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held December 14, at the Springs of Living Water Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1921 Darbytown Rd., Richmond. Burial followed in the Rappahannock Baptist Church Cemetery, Warsaw.
