Services for Roger Daniel Hobson, 17, a Valparaiso High School junior who was found dead of a gunshot wound Saturday in Gary, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Moeller Funeral Home.
The Rev. Richard Jordan will officiate; burial in Memorial Park Cemetery; visitation 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
He was born Nov. 21, 1968 in Gary, the son of Roger and Dixie (Lafferty) Hobson. He was employed at McDonalds restaurant and was a member of the the Valparaiso Boys and Girls Club. In 1983 and 1984 he received the club's Youth of the Year award.
Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Dixie and Dennis Christensen of Valparaiso; his father and stepmother, Roger and Geri Hobson of Arkansas; a brother, Ron of Valparaiso; two stepbrothers, David and Dan Christensen of California; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Lafferty of Portage and Mr. and Mrs. Pat Gambon of Merrillville; and great-grandmother, Nona Lafferty of Illinois.

∼Dan Hobson was in 11th grade at Valparaiso High School. He was loved and had so many friends. His life was tragically taken along with friend Lloyd Porter, a senior at Valparaiso High School.
