Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Wayne A. Laitinen officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Bud is survived by his wife, Judy Schroer of New Ulm; daughters, Michelle Franke of Farmington, Amy Haala of New Ulm, Beth Schroer and special friend, Jamie Aalderks of Danube; son, Paul Schroer of New Ulm; grandchildren, McKenzie, Landon, Brielle and Ramsey Franke, Cole Gostonczik, Kiya Aalderks; sister, Arlene Lippert of Blomkest; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and LaVonne Schroer of Anchorage, Alaska; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Naomi and William Schimmel of North Mankato, Ruth and Dean Bartsch of Brooklyn Center, Adeline Schroer of Blomkest, Gary and Lois Schapekahm of Freemont, Wisconsin, Richard and Marion Schapekahm and LeRoy and Carol Schapekahm all of New Ulm, Rodney Hanson of Renville and many nephews, nieces and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gerhardt, Clarence, Everett and Herman Jr. Schroer; sisters, Elda Lippert and Ella Hanson; son-in-law, Lee Haala and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Adolph and Martha Schapekahm.
Harold George John Schroer was born on Feb. 27, 1925, in Winfield Township, Renville County to Herman and Anna (Seehusen) Schroer. He was united in marriage to Judy Schapekahm on Aug. 5, 1967 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Bud was a baker for 40 years working in Renville, Jackson and at Martin Luther College in New Ulm. He also owned and operated Bud's Bakery in Fairfax for 15 years. Bud's passion during his retirement years was going to auctions and selling his treasures at antique shows and auctions.
He was a wonderful cook, loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
