Nathan Newcomb was born in 1922 in Saxe, Virginia. He was one of ten brothers and sisters (Bruce, Wade, Lonnie, Ben, Mary, Alma, Doris, Alvin and a sister who passed away a few weeks after birth). He led a very productive life including his service in the US Army for 23 years where he served in World War 2 and Korea and was First Sergeant. He also worked as an Ironworker in New Jersey. His children by first marriage include David, Peggy, Jackie, Kitty, Jean and Nathan Gale. He had one child by his second marriage, Larry. He moved his family back to Charlotte County, Virginia on Thanksgiving Day 1985 and succombed to cancer on this same day in 1991. His burial was in Saxe Cemetery, (Charlotte County Virginia) where he obtained full military honors.
