Mathew Edward Scboof was born January, 26, 1982 to Edward and Brenda (Poppe) Schoof in Belleville, KS. He was raised on a farm 3 miles north of Ruskin, NE. Matt was baptized on February 14, 1982 at St. Mark Lutheran Church and on April 26, 1996 he was confirmed by the late Pastor Albrect.

His parents moved into town in 1995 where Matt resided until his death on December 11, 2008. Matt attended Ruskin Public School through the sixth grade, then finished his schooling at Deshler Public School where he graduated in May of 2000. Matt continued his education for the following 2 years at Concordia University in Seward, NE where he participated in basketball and baseball.

Matt's contagious smile and fun loving personality made him a friend to anyone that had the pleasure of knowing him. Matt loved God and the earth that God created. Throughout his life you would find Matt trapping, fishing, hunting, and other various outdoor activities where he spent time praising God for those creations. Along with Matt's passion for the outdoors he loved playing cards and sports. Another past time of Matt's was to visit and spend time with family and friends, especially teasing and playing with his nieces and nephews. His favorite line was, "Grandpa Schoof always said ... " and he would rattle off many old sayings his Grandpa had told him.

Matt is survived by his parents Edward and Brenda Schoof of Ruskin, NE, sister Amy Voss, husband Todd and daughter Karlee of West DesMoines, IA, sister Angela Puelz, husband John and children Paxton, Josie, Joshua, and Jonathan of Lincoln, NE, sister Alesha Vieselmeyer husband Matt and daughters Allie and Lainey of Ruskin, NE, grandmother Fern Schoof of Ruskin, NE, grandmother Claris Samsula of Deshler, NE and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Matt is preceded in death by his grandfathers Vernon Schoof and Albert Samsula, cousins Fred Jr. and Craig Maschmann, and Jean, Thomas, and Brett Schroeder.

Now he is gone from this earth but lives forever with Jesus. We will miss his infectious smile, but he has gone fishing with God, his Grandpas, and cousins. They are all casting out their nets.

Memorial services will be held this Saturday 10:00 AM, December 13, 2008 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Ruskin, NE. Pastor James Moll and Vicar Joel Pike will be officiating.
