Funeral services for Kenwood Folken will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 12, 2008, at United Lutheran Church with Pastor Bob Toso officiating. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery. American Legion Post 321 will provide military honors.
Kenwood was born on March 26, 1937, to Walt and Ione Folken. He attended school in the Wendell and Elbow Lake areas and graduated from Elbow Lake High School in 1955. After graduation, Kenwood enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for 23 years. He and his family lived in several states and England during this time. He enjoyed hunting and fishing when time permitted. Kenwood ended his Air Force career in Tacoma, Washington. His last years were spent at the Veterans Home where he was very thankful for the kind and supportive staff that cared for him.
He is survived by his children, Deborah (Craig) Lyons, Cindy Bottoms, and Jason Folken, all of Washington state. Other survivors include his sisters, Sandra Macnamara of Pason, AZ, and Gail (Larry) Stephens of Elbow Lake; one brother, Leslie (Linda) Folken of Elbow Lake; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Pat.
Arrangements are with the Erickson-Smith Funeral Home in Elbow Lake.
