Mrs. Frank Schuckman Dead At 83
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Williams Community Church for Mrs. Margaret Henneke Schuckman, 83, long time resident of Colusa County, who died at 8:30 this morning in Colusa Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Schuckman was taken ill in her Williams home Friday and was brought to Memorial Hospital by ambulance that evening. Despite the best medical care and the services of three nurses who were called in to attend her, Mrs. Schuckman died suddenly this morning.
Mrs. Schuckman was born in Winters, Yolo County, in 1875. She was a daughter of the late William G. and Minnie Henneke.
For many years Mrs. Schuckman and her surviving husband, Frank, owned and operated the Mountain House west of Williams. In the days of stage and wagon travel in this area, the Mountain House was a well known and popular stop-over place for those en route to the Coast Range for vacations or camping trips.
Besides her devoted husband, Mrs. Schuckman is survived by a brother, Edward W. Henneke of Colusa, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. and Mrs. Schuckman celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary three years ago.
Funeral services are being arranged by J.D. McNary & Son.
Dr. C. Jefferson Hurt of Williams Community Church will officiate at the services Wednesday afternoon and interment will follow in the family plot, Williams Cemetery.
Mrs. Schuckman, who was born November 19, 1875, in Winters, came to Lodoga with her parents when she was seven years old. Her father, William Henneke, was in the Civil War and as a guard accompanied President Abraham Lincoln's casket from Washington to Gettysburg by train after his assassination.
She married Mr. Schuckman in her parents' home in Lodoga in 1905 and their honeymoon trip was to the Williams [Lewis] and Clark World Exposition in Portland. They then returned to Colusa County and built the first Mountain House in the western foothills. In 1910 they had the old

structure torn down and built a new Mountain House which still stands and which they successfully operated for many years.
The Schuckmans raised as foster children two nephews, Claude and Everett Schuckman. Mrs. Schuckman, besides belonging to the Williams Community Church, was a member of the Williams Town and Country Club.
Nieces and nephews surviving include Mrs. Bernice Cazasa of San Francisco, Mrs. Georgann Persons of Woodland, Mrs. Minnie Cain of Yuba City, Allen and John Abel of Williams, Herman Ossenbruggen of Winters, Mrs. Alta Lambard of Willows and Mrs. Alma Nelson of Orland.
