William Jesse Hewett, 34, of Apollo Street, died Sunday, September 19, 2004, in Wilmington, NC.

Born in Whiteville, NC, on January 4, 1970, he was a son of William "Wiley" Hewett of Wilmington, and Peggy Smith of Supply. He was a US Army veteran having served in Desert Storm.

Survivors include his mother, Peggy Smith of Supply; his father, William Wiley Hewett and wife Lois of Wilmington; paternal grandmother, Allie Hewett of Shallotte; a daughter, Ashlyn Brianna Hewett; two sisters, Martha Spike of Wilmington, Elizabeth Condrey of Spartanburg, SC; two step-sisters, Lori Simmons of Clayton, NC, Jan Gore of Wilmington; a step-brother, Craig Gore of Wilmington; two aunts, Nora Milliken and husband David, Judy Andrews and husband Jerry; a special niece, Sharon Jamie Lynn January; special friend, Michael H. Hewett; three nephews, Bruce Condrey, Thomas Condrey and Brandon Gore. The family would like to express their thanks to Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Advantage Hospice for the excellent care given to William.

Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 21, 2004, in the Chapel Hill Cemetery, Shallotte, with Reverend Landis Lancaster, Reverend Phil Ortego, Chaplain Chris Webb officiating also with military honors.
