He was a son of Peter William Woodlief (b ca 1855) & Abbie Scott; he married Julia Courtney on 21 Feb 1918 in Livingston Co, LA.
Co B, 815 Pioneer Infantry, WORLD WAR I∼A humble, friendly, but reserved man, Thomas was the husband of Julia Woodlief. He was the son of Peter Woodlief, a mixed-race creole who was the first black certified instructor from Livingston Parish (his specialty being Agriculture). Thomas was a member of the Pioneer Infantry during World War I, and a carpenter in later years. He was a dedicated husband/father to his wife Julia, their thirteen children: Cherrie Woodlief Seales; Gloria Woodlief; Gladys Woodlief Ball; Eunice Woodlief Bruce Spears; Mattie Woodlief Winters; Jessie "Dee" Woodlief Wright; fraternal twins: Morris Woodlief, and Joyce Woodlief Lacewell; Donald Woodlief; Thomas Woodlief, Jr.; Peter Woodlief; Clyde Woodlief; and Leroy Woodlief.
Upon Thomas's death, many people felt that his wife Julia died from a broken her due to her passing on several months later.
