Rita L. Matteson, 83, of Fulton, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
She was born Oct. 9, 1920, in Florissant, to the late John William and Clara Agnes (Weber) Litteken. On June 25, 1949, she married Robert L. Matteson. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1995.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Lee Matteson Jr. of Florissant, Donald Richard Matteson of Maryland Heights, and Joseph Allen Matteson of Caseyville, Ill.; two brothers, Matt Litteken of Fulton and John Litteken of Boonville; a sister, Jane Twenter of Pilot Grove; seven grandchildren, Kristen and Jessica Matteson, Blair Hines, Leigh Cook, and Libbie, Andy and Clay Lockert.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Matteson was a school teacher for various public and private schools in Florissant. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Fulton, St. Peter Quilting Group, and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Fulton with Father Greg Oligschlaeger officiating. Entombment will be in the Callaway Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation is from 3:30-9 p.m. Friday, at the Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton, with a rosary service at 6:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Catholic Church Building Fund, 700 Hwy Z, Fulton, MO 65251.
